Ryanair Airlines Baggage Policy – Fees & Allowance. If you’re travelling with Ryanair on an upcoming flight, here’s everything you need to know about your Ryanair baggage allowance, restrictions, fees and charges.
Ryanair does things a bit differently with their baggage policy.
As you’ll see below, Economy passengers booking a Standard or Flexi Plus fare pay for each piece of luggage, while Plus and Family Plus passengers have checked luggage included.
It’s also important to note fees increase when buying via the call center or at the airport, so be sure to purchase online prior to your travel date.
Carry-On Allowance: 1 Carry-On + 1 Small Bag
Passengers with Non-Priority tickets cannot bring cabin luggage.
You are allowed a single personal item, like a backpack, however, your Ryanair cabin bag can’t be larger than 25 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm.
Customers with Priority tickets can bring one personal item and one piece of carry-on luggage that doesn’t weigh more than 10 kilograms and isn’t larger than 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm.
Each passenger is allowed to carry on two bags: one carry-on and one small bag.
Assistive devices and outer garments do not count as personal items.
All carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you and adhere to the following requirements:
- Maximum Dimensions of Carry-on: 22 in x 16 in x 8 in/55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm
- Maximum Weight of Carry-on: 22 lbs (10 kg)
- Maximum Dimensions of Small Bag: 14 x 8 x 8 in/35 x 20 x 20 cm
REMINDER: Bulkhead seats do not have underseat storage during take-off and landing.
Checked Baggage
Each passenger is permitted to check-in up to 2 bags (each bag is permitted a maximum weight of 44lb/20 kg) subject to the payment of the applicable checked baggage fees.
Checked baggage can be reserved online at the time of booking or via a Ryanair call centre up to 4 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure (subject to call centre opening hours) or up to 40 minutes prior to the scheduled flight departure time at the airport.
All baggage allowance vary be season and by flight.
Low season is typically January 5th-May 31st and October 1st-Dember 20th.
High season is typically June 1st-September 30th and December 21st-January 4th.
No ticket with Ryanair comes with an included luggage allowance.
However, each passenger can buy spots for up to three checked items of baggage that weigh no more than 20 kilograms each.
So what are the Ryanair baggage fees?
The price depends on the route and when you purchase the extra parcel space.
It’s best to handle the reservations online at least one day ahead as you’ll pay less than doing it at the airport.
Be aware that Ryanair closes its baggage drop location 40 minutes before every flight, and they’re not flexible.
If you book extra baggage space online and don’t arrive in time to drop off your bags, you’re out of luck.
