All Nippon Airways ANA Carry-on Baggage Allowance

Each passenger is allowed to carry on one bag and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase.

Assistive devices and outer garments do not count as personal items.

All carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you and adhere to the following requirements:

  • Maximum Dimensions of Carry-on Luggage (including all handles, wheels, etc.): 22 in x 16 in x 9 in/55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm (length + width + height)
  • Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage: 22lb/10kg

1 personal item: FREE
1 standard carry-on bag: FREE

Size Restrictions

  • Personal: undisclosed
  • Standard: 22 x 16 x 10 inches (55 x 40 x 25 cm), no more than 22 pounds (10 kg)

Lap Infant Carry-Oon Policy: Strollers can be brought onboard if they adhere to the carry-on size allowance.

If a stroller is brought onboard then this would count towards the passenger’s carry-on allowance.

Stroller Check Policy: 

  • Strollers will be checked at the gate free of charge. However, if checking the stroller at the ticket counter is desired, ANA’s baby strollers are also available to borrow from the counter until the boarding gate.
  • Lap infants are permitted 1 piece of checked luggage at the same weight allowance as the accompanying adult.

For Domestic Routes

All checked bags must adhere to max linear dimensions of 81.9 inches (208 cm).

Economy passengers have a weight allowance of 44 pounds (20 kg) and premium class passengers have a weight allowance of 88 pounds (40 kg).

There are no restrictions on the number of pieces you can bring, provided the combined weight does not exceed the permitted allowance.

For International Route Sectors

All checked bags must adhere to a max weight of 50 pounds (23 kg) for economy and premium economy, 70 pounds (32 kg) for business and first class fares, and all checked bags must adhere to max linear dimensions of 62 inches (158 cm).

In the event that 2 or more criteria, such as baggage number and baggage weight or baggage weight and size, are exceeded, the sum of all individual excess charges shall apply.

Due to cargo space, baggage that is under 62 inches (292 cm) may still not be accepted. 

Consumption Tax may be applied.

The above fees are not applicable for the itineraries which are subject to U.S./Canada laws and regulations.

High-Value Items

Please do not check in highly valuable items such as cash, jewelry, securities, artwork, antiques and other valuables, as ANA cannot be responsible for damage to or loss of such items.

Fragile Items

Fragile items such as clocks, cameras, personal computers, bottles, and glass products can be checked as long as they meet size and weight requirements.

Considerable care is taken with the handling of baggage, but if fragile items, such as ceramics, glass products, or alcohol, are damaged due to an inherent defect or property, ANA will not be liable.

Please do not check in highly fragile items, as ANA cannot be responsible for damage to or loss of such items.

Electronic Devices

Electronic devices (personal computers, cameras, etc.) can be checked in as long as they meet size and weight requirements.

Shut down any electronic devices before you place them in checked baggage.

Musical Instruments

Musical instruments, such as guitars and violins, can be checked in as part of your baggage allowance as long as they meet size and weight requirements.

Oversized items whose dimensions are more than 203 cm (80 in.) but not larger than 292 cm (115 in.) can be checked in, but are subject to excess baggage fees.

  • These can be checked in as long as they can be loaded into the aircraft’s cargo compartment. Please contact ANA as early as possible to determine if your instrument can be checked.
  • If it is impossible to confirm if an item can be transported before the departure time, the request may be rejected.
  • Items that exceed 292 cm (115 in.) or whose weight exceeds 45 kg (99 lbs.) cannot be checked in. You should contact a cargo carrier.

Bicycles & Other Sporting Equipment

The following Sporting Equipment will be checked in free of charge if the quantity and weight are within a free Checked Baggage allowance of your boarding class.

  • It may not be possible check in large pieces of sporting equipment for some aircraft types due to limited loading space. Please see Restrictions by Aircraft Type above.
  • Please contact ANA as early as possible to determine if your equipment can be checked. If it is impossible to confirm before the departure time if an item can be transported, the request may be rejected.
  • If a bicycle is not packaged or protected, or the packaging is not suitable or adequate, ANA cannot be responsible for damage.
  • Except for electric bicycles, electric vehicles cannot be carried on board or checked in.

How many pieces, sizes and weights of baggage can I carry on board?

In addition to personal belongings (handbags, cameras, umbrellas, etc.), you can carry one piece of baggage on board.
The sizes and rules you can bring in are as follows.

Check-in Baggage Allowance for a child/infant is as below.

The free baggage allowances for ANA Japan domestic fares that can be issued with international tickets are as follows.

Premium class (normal fare):
Same capacity as international first class: up to 3 (up to 32 kg per piece)

Economy Class (Regular Fares / ANA Discover JAPAN Fare):
Same capacity as international economy class: up to 2 (up to 23 kg per piece)
