Garuda Indonesia Baggage Policy Fees & Allowance

Garuda Indonesia Baggage Policy Fees & Allowance. Garuda Indonesia includes free baggage with all fare types.

Garuda Indonesia has a very generous free checked luggage allowance across all cabin classes, right up to 110 pounds (50 kg) for first class passengers.

For most destinations, Garuda works on a weight system, so you can take as many bags as you like as long as they don’t exceed the maximum weight allowance combined.

However, U.S. routes work on a “piece system” for economy and business class (allowing 2 pieces of luggage) and the standard weight system for first class passengers.

If you need to take even more luggage, you can save 10% by booking online or with Garuda’s call center in advance.

Checked baggage (also called registered baggage) comprises articles which are weighed and carried in the baggage or cargo compartment of the aircraft.

They are not accessible to the passengers during the flight.

These articles are labelled with special baggage tags showing the station of arrival and a serial number.

A portion of this tag is attached to the passenger’s boarding pass for identification purposes only and must, as a rule, be surrendered at the station of arrival.

Every passenger of Garuda Indonesia may have different free checked baggage allowance according to their own respective tickets.

Furthermore, Garuda Indonesia has imposed a strict rule to ensure that every single piece of item or baggage checked-in does not exceed 70 lbs/32 kg.

When two or more passengers travelling as one party to a common destination point or point of stopover via the same flight, present themselves and their baggage for travelling at the same time and place, they will be permitted a total free baggage allowance equal to the combination of their individual free baggage allowance.

Baggage in excess of the combined maximum allowance will be subject to the excess baggage charge.

Garuda Indonesia has a weight allowance system for most destinations (apart from the U.S.), so you are not limited to how many pieces you can take as checked luggage — though each piece cannot exceed 70 pounds (32 kg).
