VNA’s B787-9 fleet now operates flights between airports in Vietnam as well as throughout Europe and North East Asia.

Vietnam Airlines Fleet Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner Cabin Interior Class Configuration and Seats Layout

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner Vietnam Airlines features comfortable seating for 274/311 passengers spread across three classes (business, premium, economy).

There are 28 business class seats in a herringbone arrangement (1-2-1) and each seat has direct aisle access.

The wide-bodied Dreamliner has 28 roomy, fully lie-flat angled business seats in a 1-2-1 configuration.

Interior design offers serene, lotus-embossed pale green-gold. All seats have aisle access so no mountain climbing required.

Seat pitch is 42 inches (106 centimetres); width is 21 inches (51 centimetres).

There is no privacy screen, only a (reasonably large) bulkhead between middle seats.

With this in mind, solo travellers might prefer the window seat, especially when adjusting the seat forward for dining, and to avoid disturbance if the companion entertainment screen is inadvertently left on when locked in place.

In-seat and ceiling lights are adjustable.

Seat storage is perfectly adequate.

Armrest can be lowered for easy seat access.

No overhead bins for middle seats but there are large aisle bins – this design gives a spacious feel and lots of headroom.

The Vietnam Airlines B787-9 has five rows of premium economy configured 2-3-2 (A-C, D-E-F, G-K).

There is a galley and washrooms at the front of the cabin, while the back row is separated from the economy cabin by a curtain.

It was spacious and comfortable, upholstered in teal fabric with lotus flower-shaped stitching and a cushioned headrest that provided extra support.

There was plenty of legroom (42 inches, compared with 32 inches in economy) and seven inches of recline (six in economy).

A footrest unfolded from the seat in front and a legrest was released from a lever on the right armrest.

The 10.6-inch touchscreen IFE monitor was stowed in the left armrest with a handset recessed underneath, while the tray table unfolded from the right armrest.

It was a little rickety, and just about large enough to hold a slim laptop.

There was a USB port beside the screen, plus two universal sockets under the middle armrest.

Amenities include personal Audio Video On Demand (AVOD), 110v plug or USB power ports at every seat, and access to WiFi.
