Southwest Airlines expects to have 14 of the 737 MAX 8 aircraft in its fleet by the end of 2017.

As of July 25, 2017, the airline has 200 firm orders for a combination of the smaller MAX 7 and MAX 8 aircraft.

The MAX 8 is a very comfortable product that will allow Southwest to take its route network to new destinations that were once out of reach.

Between the new additions like the boarding music, mood lighting and the highlight being a quieter and more comfortable ride, passengers have a lot to look forward to with this addition to the airline’s fleet.

After Ethiopian Boeing 737 MAX 8 incident, Southwest Airlines also grounded their MAX 8 until further update from Boeing.

Southwest Airlines Fleet Boeing 737 Max 8 Cabin Interior Class Configuration and Seats Layout

Southwest Airlines launched their service for the 737 MAX 8 aircraft in 2018.

Southwest’s new seats feature an adjustable headrest and the widest economy seat in the 737 market.

Seats have a lower-profile arm rest, advanced cushion support, a raised information pocket, and elevated rear seat beam that together allow for additional space for personal devices; and, overall, what Customers are asking for most, more personal space!

There is no pre-assigned seating for Southwest flights.

Your time of check-in will determine whether you are in Zone A, B, or C for boarding.

The earlier you board, the better chance you’ll have at the seat you want.

There is no audio or video entertainment on Southwest flights.

As with its predecessors, the MAX offers passengers seats in a 3-3 configuration.

It’s outfitted with the carrier’s “Heart” interior with 175 seats, which frequent Southwest flyers might recognize from its newer 737-800s.

Each of the seats has a generous 32 inches of pitch.

In addition, Southwest boasts that it has the widest seats of any other 737 variant at 17.6 inches.

And while that is surely wider than most, it comes at the cost of a smaller armrest, which is extremely narrow.

In addition, it’s not padded at all, which could get uncomfortable on a long flight.

The seats are “preclined,” meaning because they’re in the form of a “C” rather than an “L,” you’ll get little room to recline on your own.

That being said, the seats are pretty comfortable as is, and because of the generous 32 inches of pitch, it doesn’t feel so crammed.

Spirit Airlines Fleet Airbus A321-200 Cabin Interior Class Configuration and Seats Layout

Spirit Airlines Airbus A321-200 aircraft feature seats with no recline and 28 inches of seat pitch – the least amount of space of all US domestic carriers.

Spirit Airlines Airbus A321-200 offers one row of “Big Front” seats which are larger seats at the front of the cabin.

These “Big Front” seats offer an additional 6-8 inches of extra legroom and wider seats in comparison to the standard “Deluxe Leather” Economy seats.

These seats are available to passengers at an additional fee.

Spirit charges to reserve seats per one-way segment.

These fees will vary depending on duration of trip and whether the seat is an aisle, middle or exit seat.

Seats may also be reserved for the same fees at time of check-in.

If no seat preference is made, one will be randomly assigned at the airport or during online check-in.

Seat fees are non refundable and may not be changed once a boarding pass is issued.

First version of Airbus A321 is the most common among two versions operated by Spirit Airlines.

This version of Airbus A321 offers 218 economy class seats.

These seats are divided into three sections.

First section contains 10 rows of seats.

The seats of the 1st row, i.e. the seats 1AC and 1DF are designated by Spirit Airlines as Big Front Seats.

These seats have the following advantages: 6-8 inches of extra legroom, wider seats of 20 inches, bigger seat pitch of 36 inches.

An extra fee must be paid to book these seats.

Among disadvantages: immovable armrests, lack of floor storage during take-off and landing and close location of the galley and lavatory.

All the seats of the economy class are not reclining and have only 28 inch seat pitch.

The other rows of the first section are standard.

8 of them have 3-3 configuration and the last row of the section has 2-2 configuration plus one crew seat.

The second section of seats is located behind the exit row and contains 14 rows: 2 of them have 2-2 configuration and 12 rows have 3-3 configuration.

Passengers of the seats 11BC, 11DE, 12A and 12F will take advantage of extra legroom.

As the tray tables are in the armrests these seats are little narrower than standard and have no floor storage during take-off and landing.

The last row in the section, the 24th row also contains a crew seat.

The last section consists of 14 rows as well.

Additional space for passengers’ legs provides additional comfort for passengers of the seats 25BC, 25DE, 26A and 26F.

However, the width of these seats is slightly reduced and there is no floor storage for these seats during take-off and landing.

Passengers of the seats of the 38th row will be among the last to deplane upon arrival and will also feel some discomfort because of the galley and lavatories located behind.

These seats are considered bad seats.

This version of Airbus A321 may accommodate 228 passengers of economy class.

The seats are divided onto three sections.

All seats of the economy class have 28 inch seat pitch and do not recline.

First 2 rows of seats offer 8 seats of Big Front type to book which an extra fee must be paid.

So, passengers of the seats 1AC, 1DF and 2AC, 2DF will feel comfortable thanks to additional space for their legs, bigger seat pitch and width.

At the same time because of the tray tables that are built-in the armrests of the seats of the 1st row these armrests are not immovable.

Also these seats have no floor storage during take-off and landing and are located close to the galley and lavatory.

The other 8 rows of the first section are standard.

The seats of these rows have 3-3 configuration except the 10th row that contains 5 passenger seats and 1 crew seat.

14 rows are located in the second section.

13 of these rows may accommodate 6 passengers each and 24th row has just 5 seats for passengers and 1 crew seat.

Thanks to the exit row located in front the seats of the 11th row offer extra legroom for passengers of these seats.

However, these sears are a little narrower than standard and have no floor storage during take-off and landing.

Behind exit row the third section contains 15 rows of seats per 6 in each.

So, there are totally 90 seats here.

Passengers of the seats of the 25th row will take advantage of extra space for their legs.

Among disadvantages: lack of floor storage during take-off and landing and reduced seat width due to immovable armrests.

The noise from the galley and lavatories located behind will cause discomfort to passengers of the seats of the last 39th row.

Passengers of these seats will be among the last to deplane upon arrival.

Due to these disadvantages these seats are considered bad seats.

This airplane may accommodate 178 passengers of economy class.

Food and drinks are served for additional charge using cashless system.

Only major credit cards are accepted.

4 seats of the 1st row are designated by Spirit Airlines as Big Front seats.

These seats have 36-inch pitch and 20-inch width.

However, these seats are not reclining, have no floor storage during take-off and landing.

Among other disadvantages: slightly reduced width because the tray tables are built-in the armrests and location of the galley and lavatory in front the noise from which may cause discomfort.

The other economy class seats are divided into three sections.

First section contains 10 rows of seats that have 3-3 configuration.

All these seats are not reclining and have 28-inch seat pitch.

Passengers of the seats of the 2nd row will feel comfortable thanks to additional space for their legs.

As the tray tables are in the armrests the width of these seats is reduced a little.

Second section of economy class seats contains just one row with 6 seats.

The seats of the 12th row are considered good seats because they offer extra legroom.

However, like all seats on this airplane these seats do not recline and also are a little narrower than standard and have no floor storage during take-off and landing.

The third section of economy class seats has 18 rows of seats that have 3-3 configuration.

All these seats are not reclining and have the least pitch among all airplanes used during internal US flights.

The best seats in this section are the seats of the 13th row.

Due to the exit row located in front these seats offer extra legroom.

But as the tray tables are in the armrests, these seats are a little narrower than standard.

Also these seats have no floor storage during take-off and landing.

Passengers of the seats of the last 30th row will be among the last to deplane.

The noise from the galley and lavatory located behind will cause discomfort to passengers of these seats.

These disadvantages make these seats bad seats.

Seat Map and Seating Chart Airbus A320 200 Spirit Airlines Second Cabin Version

Second version offers 182 seats. All these seats do not recline.

First two rows have 2-2 configuration and represent big front type of economy class seats because these seats have higher pitch – 36-inch and 20-inch width.

Close location of the galley and lavatory to the seats of the 1st row and immovable armrests are the disadvantages of these seats.

Economy class may accommodate 174 passengers. All these seats have 3-3 configuration.

Most of the economy class seats are standard (the seats of the rows 3-11 and 14-30).

Thanks to the exit rows located in front the seats of the 12th and 13th row these seats have extra space for passengers’ legs.

The tray tables of these seats are in the armrests making them immovable and reducing the width of these seats a little.

The seats of the 31st row are considered bad seats because of the noise from he galley and lavatories located behind and because passengers of these seats will be among the last to deplane upon arrival.

The seats of the 1st row have the following disadvantages: lack of floor storage during take-off and landing, noise from the lavatories and galleys located in front and slightly reduced width because the tray tables are in the armrests making them immovable.

The other 135 seats are deluxe leather seats. All these seats are not reclining and are located in two sections.

Deluxe leather seats have the smallest pitch among all domestic US carriers – 28 inches.

The seats 4ABC and 5DEF are narrower than standard as the tray tables are built-in the armrests.

Behind the exit row the second section of deluxe leather type are located.

This section contains 16 rows of seats that have 3-3 configuration.

Passengers of the seats of the 11th row will take advantage of extra legroom.

However, these seats have reduced width and have no floor storage during take-off and landing.

The seats of the last 26th row are considered bad seats because of the galley and lavatory located behind and passengers of these seats will be among the last to deplane upon arrival.

JetBlue Airways Fleet Airbus A321-200 Cabin Interior Class Configuration and Seats Layout

The Airbus A321-200 (321) is the newest member of the JetBlue fleet.

The fuselage has been made longer in comparison to JetBlue’s popular A320, allowing for the accommodation of additional passengers.

JetBlue offers passengers the ability to upgrade to “Even More Space” seating from Coach seating.

In addition to providing an extra 4-8 inches in seat pitch, JetBlue’s “Even More Space” provides passengers with early boarding privileges, early access to overhead bins, and a fast track through security (only available in select cities).

These seats are located throughout the Economy cabin.

“Even More Space” pricing varies by route length.

These seats can be purchased from JetBlue directly at the time of booking or at check-in.

This configuration offers the core JetBlue Experience with 200 seats in a 3-3 layout.

This aircraft also features JetBlue’s refreshed onboard experience with brand-new entertainment systems offering up to 100 channels of DirecTV programming displayed on a 10.1″ LCD screen.

This version may transport 200 passengers offering seats of two categories: even more space and coach.

The seats of the first 5 rows offer seats of even more space type.

These seats have 3-3 configuration.

So, there are totally 30 seats of this type here.

Even more space seats provide passengers with additional legroom.

Also these seats allow passengers to be among first during boarding time giving early access to overhead bins.

Even more space seats may be reserved for additional charge during check-in or at time of booking.

The seats of the 1st row are a little narrower than standard because the tray tables are in the armrests making them immovable.

Passengers will have to store their items in overhead bins during take-off and landing.

Next 4 rows are the seats of coach type.

Because of the exit row located behind the seats of the 8th row have limited recline.

Location of the seats of the 9th row between 2 exit rows on the one hand provide passengers with extra legroom but on the other hand are less reclining than standard.

Also, these seats have no floor storage during take-off and landing.

The seats of the 10th row are the seats of even more space category.

These seats are considered good seats because they offer extra 4-8 inches of legroom.

However passengers will have to store all their items in overhead bins during take-off and landing.

The seats of the rows 11-22 are the seats of coach category.

The only disadvantage of the seats of the 21st row is limited recline.

Passengers of the seats of the 22nd row will feel comfortable thanks to extra legroom.

At the same time these seats are less reclining than standard and have no floor storage during take-off and landing.

Extra space for passengers’ legs makes the seats of the 23rd row.

These seats belong to even more space category.

Lack of floor storage during take-off and landing is the disadvantage of these seats.

The last 11 rows of the airplane are the seats of coach type.

These seats have 3-3 configuration.

The noise from the galley and lavatories located behind may represent problem to passengers of the seats 33C, 33D and of the seats of the 34th row. Limited recline makes the seats of the last 34th row bad seats.

This aircraft is the first to offer flat-bed seating and suites in the U.S. Domestic Business Class market.

There are 16 seats in the JetBlue Mint Business Class, all of which are flat beds, and 4 of which are private suites.

Each suite offers a closing door and is a first in the domestic U.S. market.

There are 143 seats in the core JetBlue Experience.

This configuration will fly primarily between New York to Los Angeles and New York to San Francisco.

This aircraft also features JetBlue’s refreshed onboard experience with brand-new entertainment systems offering up to 100 channels of DirecTV programming.

Business class has two types of seats: 4 closed suites that are located in the first row and 12 flat bed seats.

Passengers of the seats 1AC and 1DF will take advantage of extra legroom thanks to exit located in front.

The foot rests and personal TVs of these seats are mounted on the wall.

The main disadvantage of these seats is close location of the closet, galley and lavatory.

12 flat bed seats of the business class are located in 4 rows.

Rows 2 and 4 contain per 2 seats each.

These seats have closable doors providing extra privacy for passengers of these seats.

Behind the business class 5 rows of Even More Space category are located.

All these seats have from 4 to 8 extra inches of legroom.

Thanks to the exit row located in front the seats of the 6th row have extra space for passengers legs.

Proximity of the lavatory will cause discomfort to passengers of the seats 6C and 6D.

The next 7 rows contain the seats of Coach category.

The seats 11A and 11F do not have windows.

As the seats of the 17th row are located in the last row of the section, these seats are less reclining.

Behind the exit row 2 rows of seats of Even More Space category are located.

These seats have 4-8 inches of additional legroom.

Passengers of the seats of the 18th row will feel comfortable thanks to extra space for their legs provided by exit row located in front.

The seats 18A and 18F have no windows.

The crew seat located in front may restrict legroom for passengers of the seat 19D.

The seats of the rows 20-29 are seats of Coach category.

The only disadvantage of the seats 28C and 28D is proximity of the lavatories.

The seats of the 29th row are considered bad seats as they have limited recline and located close to the lavatories and galley.

JetBlue Airways Fleet Airbus A320-200 Cabin Interior Class Configuration and Seats Layout

All of JetBlue’s new A320 aircraft have a redesigned interior, including all-leather Recaro seats, 10 percent more overhead bin space and LED cabin lighting.

The seats offer improved cushion comfort and knee space as a result of a thinner seat profile and thinner armrests.

The new sidewall structure adds space to the cabin and increases shoulder space at the window seats.

All middle seats now have an underseat entertainment equipment box, which limits foot and storage space.

JetBlue offers passengers the ability to upgrade to “Even More Space” seating.

In addition to providing an extra 6 inches in seat pitch, JetBlue’s “Even More Space” provides passengers with early boarding privileges, early access to overhead bins, and a fast track through security (only available in select cities).

These seats are located in the first 5 rows and in the exit rows of the economy cabin. “Even more Space” pricing varies by route length.

These seats can be purchased from JetBlue directly at the time of booking or at check-in.

JetBlue has also partnered with ViaSat to introduce the first ever in-flight broadband service, bringing WiFi to to its first aircraft in mid 2013.

This airplane has the seats of “Even More Space” class and “Coach” class.

The seats of both classes have 3-3 configuration.

First 5 rows include the seats of Even More Space category.

The seats of the 1st row have extra 4 inches of legroom.

However the bulkhead slightly restricts the legroom.

As the tray tables are in the armrests the width of these seats is reduced.

Also these seats have no floor storage during take-off and landing.

All A and F seats of the rows 2-4 have misaligned windows.

The next 4 rows are the seats of the Coach category.

The main disadvantage of the seats 9A and 9F is the fact that these seats are not reclining.

Behind the exit row 2 rows of second section of Even More Space category are located.

Passengers of the seats of the 10th row will take advantage of 5 more inches of legroom but on the other hand these seats are less reclining or not reclining at all due to another exit row located behind.

The seats of the 11th row are considered the best seats thanks to 5 additional inches of legroom that they offer.

The remaining 15 rows of seats represent the seats of Coach category.

The only disadvantage of the seats 12A, 12F, 13A, 13F, 18A and 18F is misaligned windows.

The seats 24C and 24D as well as the seats of the last 25th row have the following disadvantage: close location of the lavatories, restricted storage space in overhead bins that are used for food supply storage as result passengers may be disturbed by crew members that have to take this food supply.

In addition the seats of the 25th row have restricted recline.
