If you book with ITA then part of the booking engine still says Alitalia on it, many of the aircraft still have the Alitalia livery, and many of the staff seem to be ex-Alitalia as well.

ITA Airways flies their Airbus A320-200 with business and economy class configuration.

The seating on board is the old Alitalia seating, so leather seating with generous (32-inch) leg room and the middle seat blocked off with a tray table which is narrower than the middle seat and so gives both the window seat and the aisle seat more room.

The leg room means that unless the person in front of you reclines their seat there is enough room to work on a laptop.

As is standard on narrow body jets in Europe, business class simply consisted of economy seats with a blocked middle.

The size of the business class cabin can vary with each flight, just by moving the curtain.

On this flight there wasn’t much business class demand, as there were just six seats.

There was one row on the right side of the plane, and two rows on the left side of the plane (for this configuration, row one is only on the left side of the plane, as the bulkhead on the right side is a bit further back).

Unfortunately ITA’s A320 business class is otherwise pretty no frills, with no power outlets, no Wi-Fi, no streaming entertainment, and no other inflight entertainment.

There are 114 economy class seats in a 3-3 configuration.

The pitch of 31-32 inches (78.7-81.3 cm) and width of 17.1-18.1 inches (43.4-46 cm) is roomier than many other airlines’ economy class.

There are no USB or power outlet chargers.

It’s worth noting that middle seats in ITA’s business class cabin on the A320s are blocked, so there’s plenty of elbow room for those in the aisle and window seats.

The entire ITA Airways A319-100 cabin is decked in black and white, using white on its bulkhead and black for the carpeting and seats.

The use of white colour reduces the claustrophobic feel as this is a small aircraft.

As with most narrow-body aircraft, the Business and Economy Class Cabins are separated by a thin curtain.

Seats on board ITA Airways A319-100 are the same regardless of the class of travel.

The most immediate difference between the classes is that the seats in Business Class have a middle seat blocked out, sitting only two passengers in a row.

All seats, both Business Class and Economy Class are 17.7″ wide.

Business Class has a slightly longer seat pitch of 31″ compared to the 30″ in the standard Economy Class.

Seats onboard ITA Airways A319-100 are clad in black leather which thick paddings, making the seat very comfortable.

The legroom was excellent on exit row seats.

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A220-300 Details and Pictures. Currently, ITA Airways operates 8 narrow-body aircraft Airbus A220-300 for short-medium haul flights.

The A220-300 is a single-aisle Airbus aircraft with a narrow fuselage.

Due to its compact size (150-160 seats compared to 300-350 for an A350), it is the ‘baby brother’ of the other next-generation aircrafts in the ITA Airways fleet.

Specifically, the airline will look to use the aircraft from Rome Fiumicino (FC) and Milano Linate (LIN) to Genoa (GOA), Turin (TRN), Naples (NAP), Geneva (GVA), Zurich (ZRH), and Munich (MUC).

One important route already being served by the smaller A220-100 is that between Milan Linate and London City – both airports are close to their respective city centers, which makes them popular with executives.

Used for short- and medium-haul flights, the key strengths of this aircraft are its advanced aerodynamics and the new turbofan engines, purposely design for the plane, which allow for a 25% reduction in fuel consumption (and consequently CO₂emissions), compared to previous generation aircraft.

Furthermore, the improved acoustics provide for a 50% reduction in noise emissions.

Passengers can enjoy the comfort of a cabin that has been specifically designed for an exceptional flight experience: wider seats and windows, more spacious overhead bins for carry-on luggage, and low noise levels.

ITA Airways fleet Airbus A220-300 has a cabin complete with 149 seats.

These seats are split between both business and economy-level seating options.

The new aircraft in the airline’s distinctive blue colors will adopt the ‘Euro business’ layout used by many carriers.

ITA uses the same seats as those in economy, but blocks off some of the seats to give business passengers more room and privacy.

This allows the airline to extend or reduce the business section simply by using a movable cabin divider.

Each seat is also made of Safran leather that has beige and blue coloring to match the airline’s colors.

USB power sockets are added to each of these seats as well.

Specifically, the interior of the new A220 was designed by Walter De Silva.

De Silva says that he was inspired by the idea of bringing a pleasant and consistent journey above the clouds to the interior cabin.

He also said the core concepts of the aircraft’s interior design are comfort, elegance, and simplicity.

He spoke further about choosing blue and beige colors as the predominant colors, which are natural colors made of natural materials.

Additionally, the headrests have an Italian flag and embroidered logo on the front.

Other cabin upgrades include upgraded WiFi connectivity.

The service allows passengers to purchase different packages based on their needs.

The new A220-300 also has wider seats, a customized lighting system, larger windows, and increased overhead storage space.

This aircraft type is fitted with leather upholstered slimline seats featuring a 4-way adjustable headrest, moveable armrests (rows 1 and 14 are the exceptions), and a retractable tablet holder

ITA Airways (AZ, Rome Fiumicino) has taken delivery of its first A220-100, deploying it into commercial service on the restricted and high-yielding Milan Linate-London City route almost immediately.

EI-HLA (msn 50068) was ferried directly from Montréal Mirabel to Rome Fiumicino on October 31-November 1, 2023.

Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows it was then repositioned to Linate on November 2 and operated its first revenue flight to London City on November 3.

So far, the aircraft has only been used on this route.

The airline is only the third operator of the variant globally, following Swiss and Delta Air Lines.
