ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A350-900 Details and Pictures

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A350-900 Details and Pictures. On current fleet, ITA Airways operates 6 wide-body aircraft Airbus A350-900.

Italia Trasporto Aereo, known as ITA Airways, is Italy’s new flag carrier, replacing Alitalia in October 2021.

The airline is rapidly expanding its global presence, launching routes to places in the US, Asia, and South America.

ITA is the first Italian airline to fly the Airbus A350 aircraft, which was chosen to reduce carbon emissions.

The ITA Airways Airbus A350-900 has its passenger accommodation divided into three cabins with a Business Class cabin plus two Economy class cabins.

Thirty-nine seats located at the front of the forward Economy section are designated Comfort Economy seats which offer more leg room.

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A350-900 Cabin Interior Class Configuration and Seats Layout

ITA Airways A350s are configured with 334 seats in two classes, including 33 fully lie-flat loungers in business and 331 seats in economy.

The first cabin on this A350-900 was the Collins Super Diamond business class.

The product, which is also found on British Airways, is configured in a 1x2x1 layout, meaning all passengers have direct-aisle access.

Economy has 262 standard seats with 31-32 inches of pitch, and 39 extra legroom seats, known as “comfort economy,” with 34 inches of pitch.

Every economy seat offers 18 inches of width and 120 degrees of recline.

Business Class

ITA Airways’ A350 business class is comfortable but bland.

The business class cabin is located entirely between doors one and two, and consists of 33 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration.

The left side of the cabin has eight rows, the right side of the cabin has seven rows, and the center section has nine rows.

ITA has Collins Aerospace Super Diamond reverse herringbone seats on its A350s, which are the same style of seats you’ll find on so many airlines.

While ITA’s livery is incredibly bold, the cabin finishes lack personality.

When you view the cabin from the back, you wouldn’t be able to guess which airline this plane belongs to.

Those traveling with companions may prefer to sit in the center section (seats with the letters “D” and “H”), so that they’re at least somewhat facing the person they’re traveling with.

Those traveling solo will want to select a seat by the window if possible, which are the seats with the letters “A” and “L.”

As usual, the tray table can be extended from underneath the personal entertainment screen, and is folded in half when in the stored position.

There’s also a console to the left of the seat with two separate compartments that can be opened, as well as a monitor that can be used to control the seat functions.

The one to the left isn’t as deep, and can be used for storing a phone, glasses, etc.

The compartment on the right is deeper, and also contains the entertainment controller, USB-A outlet, AC power outlet, and headphone jacks.

There’s also a small exposed storage area underneath the seat and to the left.

Then along the aisle there’s an armrest that can be raised or lowered, which could also be used for further storage.

The seat’s footwell is a reasonably good size.

If you have big feet it might be a little bit of a tight squeeze, but it shouldn’t be too uncomfortable.

Economy Class

ITA Airways has made the interesting choice not to offer a premium economy cabin.

All its A350s will be fitted with just two cabins.

Economy does have a separate section up front with more legroom – known as “comfort economy.”

On all A350-900 aircraft, 39 of the 301 economy seats are configured this way.

These are the same economy seats but with 34 inches of legroom instead of 31-32 inches as standard in the main cabin.

The onboard service in comfort economy will be the same.

This is a nice addition (common with several other airlines) that allows passengers to pay just a bit more for a more conferrable experience.

It also allows the airline to offer them to frequent flyers as a benefit – it is much harder to do this with a separate premium economy cabin, of course.

As is usual on the A350, the cabin is arranged nine abreast in a 3-3-3 configuration.

The cabin is split into two sections, with toilets between rows 48 and 49 and the main galley at the rear.

The cabin lighting is an important concept on the A350, and we had this demonstrated in the rear economy cabin.

Crew can select different lighting experiences for different stages of flight – including boarding – take off – fly – dinner – lunch – sun rise – sun set – night.

Comfort Economy

So here come the Comfort Economy seats on the Airbus A330-900 aircraft, the Poltrona Top and Poltrona Anteriore seats for a more comfortable journey, airport lounges in Rome Fiumicino, Milan Linate and Catania Fontanarossa, Wi-fi connectivity on board long-haul flights and a new in-flight menu from Michelin-starred chef Giancarlo Morelli.

Passengers in Comfort Economy class on the Airbus A330-900 long-haul aircraft can enjoy more comfortable and personalized travel.

In addition to the more comfortable seats, there is also a range of services such as priority boarding and disembarkation, reserved hat racks for hand luggage, and more legroom.

In addition to this, it is also possible to choose to travel in the Top Seat located at the emergency exits guaranteeing greater comfort, and in the Front Seat located immediately behind the Business/Superior class which allows passengers to disembark even faster from the aircraft.

In Comfort Economy on all these long-haul aircraft it is also possible to access the Wi-fi accessible through the ITA Airways portal, with 30 free minutes available for all passengers, and they can also purchase the package that best suits their needs.

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A330-900neo Details and Pictures

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A330-900neo Details and Pictures. On current fleet, ITA Airways operates 9 wide-body aircraft Airbus A330-900neo.

ITA Airways, Italy’s national carrier, has taken delivery of its first A330-900 in 26 May 2023, on lease from Air Lease Corporation (ALC) (NYSE: AL), during a ceremony held in Toulouse.

The A330neo will join the ITA Airways fleet in June to serve its long-haul routes and new intercontinental destinations.

The A330neo is the new-generation version of the popular A330 widebody.

Incorporating the latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, new wings and a range of aerodynamic innovations, the aircraft offers a 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The A330-900 is capable of flying 7,200 nm / 13,334 km non-stop.

ITA Airways A330-900neo will feature a three-class cabin layout designed by renowned designer Walter De Silva.

It’ll feature 30 full lie-flat bed business class seats, 24 premium and 237 latest generation economy class seats of which, 36 are dedicated to comfort economy.

All seats will be equipped with on demand video and audio content as well as full WiFi connectivity and highly customisable mood lighting throughout the cabin.

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A330-900neo Cabin Interior Class Configuration and Seats Layout

Comprising three cabin classes, ITA Airways A330-900neo aircraft has 291 seats.

In Business the aircraft features a standard 30 reclining Thompson Vantage XL seats in a staggered 1 x 2 x 1 configuration which features a customised contemporary trim and finish.

In Premium there are 24 Safran recliner seats which include comfort and privacy wings by the head and hard shell backs.

Meanwhile in Economy there are 237 seats, of which 36 are dedicated to Comfort Economy, again supplied by Safran.

Business Class

The cabin features 30 business class seats, spread across eight rows in a 1-2-1 configuration.

ITA has a customized design of the Vantage XL product, similar to what you’ll find on the A330-900neos operated by Delta and Virgin Atlantic.

However, unlike on those airlines, ITA elected not to install privacy doors.

This configuration efficiently uses space by staggering the seats in each row, so that the footwell for one seat is to the side of the seat in front.

In the center section, seats alternate between being closer to the aisle and closer to the center, though there are no “honeymoon” seats in this configuration (where two center seats are very close to one another).

If you’re traveling with someone, you might like choosing a pair of center seats.

If you’re traveling alone, fortunately there’s a privacy partition between these seats that can be raised as well.

Along the windows, seats alternate between being closer to the aisle and being closer to the window.

Specifically, seats in odd numbered rows are closer to the aisle, while seats in even numbered rows are closer to the windows.

The “true” window seats are the most popular, since you have the most separation from the aisle, and can also easily look out the window.

The seat controls are at the front corner of the counter.

The seat had excellent tech, including a USB-A outlet, USB-C outlet, and AC power outlet, all of which allowed for fast charging.

The entertainment controller was also in this area, and was easy to use.

Then again, the entertainment is touchscreen, so you can control all the entertainment functions without actually using this.

The tray table popped out from underneath the side console, and was a single, large table.

So if you need to go to the bathroom, make sure you do so before a meal, because you won’t easily be able to move things around if you’re being served anything.

One general concern with these kinds of seats is that footwell space tends to be quite limited.

Ultimately the A330 is a bit narrower than other wide body aircraft, and you definitely feel that when seated.

Each business class seat had a 17.3″ personal television with 4K resolution.

The monitor was touchscreen, or alternatively you could use the controller, if you prefer.

ITA has bluetooth audio in business class on its A330-900neos, so you can connect your personal headphones to the entertainment system.

ITA’s Airbus A330-900neo Wi-Fi pricing is as follows:

  • There’s a free messaging option, allowing you to use messaging apps without sending pictures or videos
  • For $10 you can get a two hour Wi-Fi pass, intended for email and web surfing
  • For $25 you can get a pass for the entire flight that gives you 500MB of data; while it’s claimed that this allows streaming, I wouldn’t count on it

Premium Economy

Premium Economy cabin consists of 24 seats, spread across four rows in a 2-3-2 configuration (only the center section has four rows, while there are only three rows of window seats).

Headrests had support to prevent your head from flopping around while sleeping.

Each headrest also had the ITA Airways logo, and the seats looked extremely clean, given how new the airline and its cabins were.

The seats had good spacing: 40 inches of pitch.

The cabin had a staggered layout from the middle section to the seats along the window.

Overhead bins were available in the center section and along the windows.

Cabin lighting rotated among green, blue, and red during the flight.

This provided sufficient light for meal service and going to the bathroom without the brightness of white lights that can make it hard to sleep.

There was a plastic bag with a large pillow and blanket inside.

The pillow had great support — definitely above average for airline pillows.

Between the seats, the navy-and-beige color scheme continued with the armrests and the small tray for drinks.

This molding also had universal outlets and USB-A and USB-C charging ports.

Along the window, the outer armrest had 2 buttons for controlling the seat’s recline and legrest.

Given that premium economy was between economy and business class, the meal should have been something nicer than economy while not quite as good as what business class received.

Each seat in premium economy had a 15.2-inch screen.

Seats at the bulkhead had screens mounted on the wall rather than pulling out from inside the armrest.

In the other rows, screens were on the back of the seat in front.

These were all touchscreen-enabled and worked really easily.

Wi-Fi was available throughout the flight. Messaging was free.

The lavatory for premium economy was at the front of the cabin, next to the galley separating from business class.

Economy Class

The Economy seat is a Safran Z400 with 31″ pitch and 13.3” screen.

36 of the economy seats are branded as Comfort Economy as they have a bit more legroom than the basic economy seats.

All seats will be equipped with on-demand video and audio content as well as full Wi-Fi connectivity and customisable mood lighting throughout the cabin, as part of the Airspace cabin that has been installed.

The aircraft is also equipped with Bluetooth audio and a connectivity system through which passengers can buy different service packages according to their needs: messaging, mailing and internet browsing and streaming.

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A321neo Details and Pictures

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A321neo Details and Pictures. On current fleet, ITA Airways operates 3 narrow-body aircraft Airbus A321neo.

The Italian flag carrier took delivery of the first of nine single-aisle A321neo twinjets on 10 November 2023 during a ceremony at Airbus’ Hamburg production facilities.

On lease from Air Lease Corporation, the new three-class A321neo features 12 full-flat, direct aisle access business class suites, based on Stelia’s Opera herringbone; plus 12 premium economy seats in a four-abreast layout; and 141 economy seats of which 12 are dedicated to ‘Comfort Economy’.

You might call this a 3.5-class layout, given ITA’s extra legroom Comfort Economy option in coach.

In 2024, ITA Airways is planning a big expansion, and intends to start flying to Accra (ACC), Dakar (DSS), Jeddah (JED), Kuwait (KWI), Riyadh (RUH), and Tel Aviv (TLV), and the intent is for most of these routes to be operated by A321neos.

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A321neo Cabin Interior Class Configuration and Seats Layout

ITA Airways’ Airbus A321neos are in a special configuration, very different than the A321neos operated by any other European airline.

ITA Airways’ A321neo, which will serve the airline’s medium haul routes, is fitted with a three class configuration including 12 Business Class full flat beds with direct aisle access, 12 Premium Economy seats in 4-abreast, and 141 Economy seats of which 12 are dedicated to Comfort Economy.

They have just 165 seats, spread across three cabins, as follows:

  • Business class consists of 12 seats in a 1-1 configuration, spread across six rows; these are reverse herringbone seats with 17.3″ personal entertainment screens, and the first row even has significantly more space, and might just be the world’s most impressive narrow body business class seat
  • Premium economy consists of 12 seats in a 2-2 configuration, spread across three rows, with 15.6″ personal entertainment screens; these are the same premium economy seats that ITA has on long haul flights
  • Economy consists of 141 seats in a 3-3 configuration, spread across 24 rows (with the last row only having seats on one side), with 13.3″ personal entertainment screens; there are also 12 economy seats with extra legroom

ITA Airways’ A321neo aircraft features Airbus’ Airspace cabin design, which includes new XL overhead bins and customised interior lighting based on the latest full-LED technologies to help reduce jet lag.

In addition, to enhance the passenger experience, each seat is equipped with the latest generation in-flight entertainment system with individual screens and on-demand content.

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A320neo Details and Pictures

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A320neo Details and Pictures. On current fleet, ITA Airways operates 14 narrow-body aircraft Airbus A320neo.

The A320neo is the third new aircraft type ITA introduced in its fleet after it replaced Alitalia as Italy’s flag carrier in October 2021.

In August 2022, it put into service the A350, followed in October by the A220.

Equipped with two highly advanced engines – the Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower PW1100G-JM geared turbofan and the CFM International’s LEAP-1A – the A320neo delivers outstanding operational, economic and environmental performance.

The Airbus A320neo will look to be used on the airline’s domestic and international network from the Fiumicino airport in Rome.

This aircraft will cover all short and medium haul destinations starting in the 2023 summer season.

Some of the domestic routes include arriving at the airports of Brindisi, Bari, Catania, Naples, Palermo, and Venice.

ITA Airways will use the A320neo on international routes, including to Paris, Madrid, and Brussels, as well as several other destinations in Europe.

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A320neoCabin Interior Class Configuration and Seats Layout

ITA Airways chose a quite dense configuration on its Airbus A320neo, featuring 180 seats.

As a result, Business Class passengers do not have a dedicated cabin.

Instead, they have more personal space as the middle seat of each row is left empty, and they enjoy an upgraded dining experience with hot meals and fine wines.

There are four rows of business class seats (which are exactly the same as the economy seats) in a 3-3 layout.

Every middle seat is blocked, so you’ll always have an open seat next to you.

The economy seats were in the standard 3-3 layout though unfortunately they were the slimline seats.

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A320-200 Details and Pictures

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A320-200 Details and Pictures. On current fleet, ITA Airways operates 25 narrow-body aircraft Airbus A320-200 (ceo).

These aircraft, inherited by ITA Airways through the transfer of Alitalia’s assets in 2020, accommodate up to 171/180 passengers within a single cabin sub-divided by a curtain into two sections, Business and Economy.

If you book with ITA then part of the booking engine still says Alitalia on it, many of the aircraft still have the Alitalia livery, and many of the staff seem to be ex-Alitalia as well.

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A320-200 Cabin Interior Class Configuration and Seats Layout

ITA Airways flies their Airbus A320-200 with business and economy class configuration.

The seating on board is the old Alitalia seating, so leather seating with generous (32-inch) leg room and the middle seat blocked off with a tray table which is narrower than the middle seat and so gives both the window seat and the aisle seat more room.

The leg room means that unless the person in front of you reclines their seat there is enough room to work on a laptop.

As is standard on narrow body jets in Europe, business class simply consisted of economy seats with a blocked middle.

The size of the business class cabin can vary with each flight, just by moving the curtain.

On this flight there wasn’t much business class demand, as there were just six seats.

There was one row on the right side of the plane, and two rows on the left side of the plane (for this configuration, row one is only on the left side of the plane, as the bulkhead on the right side is a bit further back).

Unfortunately ITA’s A320 business class is otherwise pretty no frills, with no power outlets, no Wi-Fi, no streaming entertainment, and no other inflight entertainment.

There are 114 economy class seats in a 3-3 configuration.

The pitch of 31-32 inches (78.7-81.3 cm) and width of 17.1-18.1 inches (43.4-46 cm) is roomier than many other airlines’ economy class.

There are no USB or power outlet chargers.

It’s worth noting that middle seats in ITA’s business class cabin on the A320s are blocked, so there’s plenty of elbow room for those in the aisle and window seats.
