The A220-300 is a single-aisle Airbus aircraft with a narrow fuselage.

Due to its compact size (150-160 seats compared to 300-350 for an A350), it is the ‘baby brother’ of the other next-generation aircrafts in the ITA Airways fleet.

Specifically, the airline will look to use the aircraft from Rome Fiumicino (FC) and Milano Linate (LIN) to Genoa (GOA), Turin (TRN), Naples (NAP), Geneva (GVA), Zurich (ZRH), and Munich (MUC).

One important route already being served by the smaller A220-100 is that between Milan Linate and London City – both airports are close to their respective city centers, which makes them popular with executives.

Used for short- and medium-haul flights, the key strengths of this aircraft are its advanced aerodynamics and the new turbofan engines, purposely design for the plane, which allow for a 25% reduction in fuel consumption (and consequently CO2emissions), compared to previous generation aircraft.

Furthermore, the improved acoustics provide for a 50% reduction in noise emissions.

Passengers can enjoy the comfort of a cabin that has been specifically designed for an exceptional flight experience: wider seats and windows, more spacious overhead bins for carry-on luggage, and low noise levels.

ITA Airways fleet Airbus A220-300 has a cabin complete with 149 seats.

These seats are split between both business and economy-level seating options.

The new aircraft in the airline’s distinctive blue colors will adopt the ‘Euro business’ layout used by many carriers.

ITA uses the same seats as those in economy, but blocks off some of the seats to give business passengers more room and privacy.

This allows the airline to extend or reduce the business section simply by using a movable cabin divider.

Each seat is also made of Safran leather that has beige and blue coloring to match the airline’s colors.

USB power sockets are added to each of these seats as well.

Specifically, the interior of the new A220 was designed by Walter De Silva.

De Silva says that he was inspired by the idea of bringing a pleasant and consistent journey above the clouds to the interior cabin.

He also said the core concepts of the aircraft’s interior design are comfort, elegance, and simplicity.

He spoke further about choosing blue and beige colors as the predominant colors, which are natural colors made of natural materials.

Additionally, the headrests have an Italian flag and embroidered logo on the front.

Other cabin upgrades include upgraded WiFi connectivity.

The service allows passengers to purchase different packages based on their needs.

The new A220-300 also has wider seats, a customized lighting system, larger windows, and increased overhead storage space.

This aircraft type is fitted with leather upholstered slimline seats featuring a 4-way adjustable headrest, moveable armrests (rows 1 and 14 are the exceptions), and a retractable tablet holder

EI-HLA (msn 50068) was ferried directly from Montréal Mirabel to Rome Fiumicino on October 31-November 1, 2023.

Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows it was then repositioned to Linate on November 2 and operated its first revenue flight to London City on November 3.

So far, the aircraft has only been used on this route.

It is configured for up to 125 passengers in a single-class layout.

The airline is only the third operator of the variant globally, following Swiss and Delta Air Lines.

Starting an aircraft manufacturing plant in Greensboro, North Carolina comes with numerous advantages.

According to Christopher Chung, the CEO of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the state offers an abundance of resources and access to highly skilled talent.

What’s more, North Carolina boasts the lowest corporate income tax rate in the entire United States, currently standing at 2.5%.

This rate is set to decrease further and eventually reach zero by the year 2030.

In this location, state taxes are kept at a minimum, electricity costs are affordable, and there is no state sales tax on aviation gasoline/jet fuel.

This means that both employees and employers can travel longer distances for a lower cost.

The Superfactory has already completed the installation of all its structural beams, as stated in a press release by Boom Supersonic on September 20th.

Boom Overture Suppliers

Undoubtedly, securing suppliers for Symphony is the most noteworthy achievement for Boom Supersonic in 2023.

The supersonic engine that will be installed on every Overture is called Symphony.

Each Overture aircraft will be equipped with four of these powerful engines.

Florida Turbine Technologies has been selected to design the engine, while GE Additive will provide consulting services for additive technology design.

Additionally, StandardAero will handle the maintenance of these engines.

Each of these engines will produce 35,000 pounds of thrust without the need for an afterburner, and they will be specifically designed to run on 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

According to recent announcements in June, Aernnova, a Spanish company, will collaborate with Boom Supersonic to refine the wings for supersonic cruise flights.

In the meantime, Leonardo, an Italian aerospace firm, will assist Boom Supersonic in perfecting the fuselage, while Aciturri, a Spanish company, will be responsible for the design and development of the tails.

Boom Supersonic has recently chosen Latecoere of Toulouse, France, to collaborate on the development of Overture’s comprehensive electrical wiring interconnection system architecture.
