SWISS Fleet Airbus A340-300 Details and Pictures. On current fleet, SWISS operated 5 wide-body aircraft Airbus A340-300.

With a range of about 11,000 km, the Airbus A340-300 serves all SWISS destinations around the world non-stop and with a full payload.

The modernised version of the jet provides maximum comfort in SWISS Business thanks to the innovative pneumatic seat technology.

The A340-300 has the endurance of a marathon runner, and holds several long-distance records.

The winglets on the tips of the wings reduce wing vibration, which saves a tremendous amount of kerosene.

The winglets also give the Airbus an elegant appearance.

Qualified pilots can transfer to the A340 in three days from the A330, or seven days from the A320.

SWISS Fleet Airbus A340-300 Cabin Interior Class Configuration and Seats Layout

The Airbus A340-300 is Swiss International Air Lines’ flagship aircraft.

This configuration shows the newest configuration of the A340-300 with First Class and a staggered Business Class product.

A new Economy Class is also featured on this version.

All Economy Class seats A,D,G and K may have restricted under seat storage or legroom due to the presence of an entertainment equipment box.

The A340’s first class cabin is exactly the same as the 777-300ER and A330.

You may want to avoid seats 1A and 1D in this seat map due to the uncomfortable proximity to the lavatories.

Generally speaking, seats 2G and 2K will be the most private on the A340.

The A340 is inconsistently flown by Swiss, seemingly as a substitute aircraft in place of aircraft being serviced, but it’s still has a great business class cabin.

To select throne seats, choose seat 4A first, then 12A, followed by 10A, and lastly 6A or 8A.

Just like the A330, the Swiss International Air Lines A340 economy cabin is arranged in a 2-4-2 configuration with a tapered 2-3-2 configuration toward the back of the cabin.

Row 23 is the absolute best on the A340.

It’s at the front of the cabin, has tons of extra legroom due to the bulkhead, and is far away from the lavatories.

Other options include 29 D/E/F/G, 30A/B, and 30J/K, which are situated in the exit row but are close to the lavatories.

For families of 3 traveling together, it might be a wise idea to take the entire middle row in rows 42-45.

Airbus A340-300 operated by SWISS may transport 219 passengers in 3 classes.

First class consists of 8 flat bed seats that have 180 degrees recline.

Business class may accommodate 47 passengers on its fat bed seats.

These seats are located in 2 sections.

First section contains 2 rows of seats.

All these seats are standard.

There are 9 rows of flat bed seats in the second section of business class.

Only the seats 8A and 8K have such a small disadvantage as missing windows.

Economy class seats are also located in two sections.

These two sections have 164 standard seats.

First section has 5 rows of seats that have 2-4-2 configuration.

The seats of the 23rd row are considered good seats as they have extra space for passengers’ legs.

However, as the tray tables are built-in the armrests the width of these seats is slightly reduced.

Also there is no floor storage for these seats during take-off and landing.

As the seats of the 27th row are located in the last row of the section, these seats are less reclining.

Close location of the lavatories will cause discomfort to passengers of these seats.

The seats 27A and 27K have less legroom because of entertainment equipment stored under the seats located in front.

Passengers of the seats 29DEFG, 30AB and 30JK will take advantage of extra legroom due to exit row located in front.

Among disadvantages of these seats: lack of floor storage during take-off and landing, restricted width of the seats as the tray tables are in the armrests, also other passengers tend to gather in this area while waiting to use lavatories.

The main disadvantage of the seats 41D and 41G is that these seats are often bumped by crew members and other passengers passing by as there are no seats behind.

The seats 42DEG have less space for passengers’ legs.

Because of misalignment of the seats the TV screens are not located directly in front of these seats which may be uncomfortable.

The seats 44AB, 44JK and the seats of the 45th row may be less reclining, close location of the lavatory and galley may be also bothersome.

In addition, the seats 44A and 44K have limited legroom because of entertainment equipment located under these seats.
