ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A330-900neo Details and Pictures

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A330-900neo Details and Pictures. On current fleet, ITA Airways operates 9 wide-body aircraft Airbus A330-900neo.

ITA Airways, Italy’s national carrier, has taken delivery of its first A330-900 in 26 May 2023, on lease from Air Lease Corporation (ALC) (NYSE: AL), during a ceremony held in Toulouse.

The A330neo will join the ITA Airways fleet in June to serve its long-haul routes and new intercontinental destinations.

The A330neo is the new-generation version of the popular A330 widebody.

Incorporating the latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, new wings and a range of aerodynamic innovations, the aircraft offers a 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The A330-900 is capable of flying 7,200 nm / 13,334 km non-stop.

ITA Airways A330-900neo will feature a three-class cabin layout designed by renowned designer Walter De Silva.

It’ll feature 30 full lie-flat bed business class seats, 24 premium and 237 latest generation economy class seats of which, 36 are dedicated to comfort economy.

All seats will be equipped with on demand video and audio content as well as full WiFi connectivity and highly customisable mood lighting throughout the cabin.

ITA Airways Fleet Airbus A330-900neo Cabin Interior Class Configuration and Seats Layout

Comprising three cabin classes, ITA Airways A330-900neo aircraft has 291 seats.

In Business the aircraft features a standard 30 reclining Thompson Vantage XL seats in a staggered 1 x 2 x 1 configuration which features a customised contemporary trim and finish.

In Premium there are 24 Safran recliner seats which include comfort and privacy wings by the head and hard shell backs.

Meanwhile in Economy there are 237 seats, of which 36 are dedicated to Comfort Economy, again supplied by Safran.

Business Class

The cabin features 30 business class seats, spread across eight rows in a 1-2-1 configuration.

ITA has a customized design of the Vantage XL product, similar to what you’ll find on the A330-900neos operated by Delta and Virgin Atlantic.

However, unlike on those airlines, ITA elected not to install privacy doors.

This configuration efficiently uses space by staggering the seats in each row, so that the footwell for one seat is to the side of the seat in front.

In the center section, seats alternate between being closer to the aisle and closer to the center, though there are no “honeymoon” seats in this configuration (where two center seats are very close to one another).

If you’re traveling with someone, you might like choosing a pair of center seats.

If you’re traveling alone, fortunately there’s a privacy partition between these seats that can be raised as well.

Along the windows, seats alternate between being closer to the aisle and being closer to the window.

Specifically, seats in odd numbered rows are closer to the aisle, while seats in even numbered rows are closer to the windows.

The “true” window seats are the most popular, since you have the most separation from the aisle, and can also easily look out the window.

The seat controls are at the front corner of the counter.

The seat had excellent tech, including a USB-A outlet, USB-C outlet, and AC power outlet, all of which allowed for fast charging.

The entertainment controller was also in this area, and was easy to use.

Then again, the entertainment is touchscreen, so you can control all the entertainment functions without actually using this.

The tray table popped out from underneath the side console, and was a single, large table.

So if you need to go to the bathroom, make sure you do so before a meal, because you won’t easily be able to move things around if you’re being served anything.

One general concern with these kinds of seats is that footwell space tends to be quite limited.

Ultimately the A330 is a bit narrower than other wide body aircraft, and you definitely feel that when seated.

Each business class seat had a 17.3″ personal television with 4K resolution.

The monitor was touchscreen, or alternatively you could use the controller, if you prefer.

ITA has bluetooth audio in business class on its A330-900neos, so you can connect your personal headphones to the entertainment system.

ITA’s Airbus A330-900neo Wi-Fi pricing is as follows:

  • There’s a free messaging option, allowing you to use messaging apps without sending pictures or videos
  • For $10 you can get a two hour Wi-Fi pass, intended for email and web surfing
  • For $25 you can get a pass for the entire flight that gives you 500MB of data; while it’s claimed that this allows streaming, I wouldn’t count on it

Premium Economy

Premium Economy cabin consists of 24 seats, spread across four rows in a 2-3-2 configuration (only the center section has four rows, while there are only three rows of window seats).

Headrests had support to prevent your head from flopping around while sleeping.

Each headrest also had the ITA Airways logo, and the seats looked extremely clean, given how new the airline and its cabins were.

The seats had good spacing: 40 inches of pitch.

The cabin had a staggered layout from the middle section to the seats along the window.

Overhead bins were available in the center section and along the windows.

Cabin lighting rotated among green, blue, and red during the flight.

This provided sufficient light for meal service and going to the bathroom without the brightness of white lights that can make it hard to sleep.

There was a plastic bag with a large pillow and blanket inside.

The pillow had great support — definitely above average for airline pillows.

Between the seats, the navy-and-beige color scheme continued with the armrests and the small tray for drinks.

This molding also had universal outlets and USB-A and USB-C charging ports.

Along the window, the outer armrest had 2 buttons for controlling the seat’s recline and legrest.

Given that premium economy was between economy and business class, the meal should have been something nicer than economy while not quite as good as what business class received.

Each seat in premium economy had a 15.2-inch screen.

Seats at the bulkhead had screens mounted on the wall rather than pulling out from inside the armrest.

In the other rows, screens were on the back of the seat in front.

These were all touchscreen-enabled and worked really easily.

Wi-Fi was available throughout the flight. Messaging was free.

The lavatory for premium economy was at the front of the cabin, next to the galley separating from business class.

Economy Class

The Economy seat is a Safran Z400 with 31″ pitch and 13.3” screen.

36 of the economy seats are branded as Comfort Economy as they have a bit more legroom than the basic economy seats.

All seats will be equipped with on-demand video and audio content as well as full Wi-Fi connectivity and customisable mood lighting throughout the cabin, as part of the Airspace cabin that has been installed.

The aircraft is also equipped with Bluetooth audio and a connectivity system through which passengers can buy different service packages according to their needs: messaging, mailing and internet browsing and streaming.
