Ethiopian Airlines’ Boeing 737-800 operates on medium-haul flights.

Ethiopian Airlines configuration includes seating in their Cloud Nine Business Class and Economy Class.

Boeing 737-800 with four rows of Business Class in a 2-2 configuration.

The rest of the plane is equipped with the typical 3-3 seating arrangement.

Business Class comes with huge recliner seats made out of cloth.

It’s a very similar product to what you’ll find in the Oman Air regional Business Class or the Philippine Airlines regional Business Class.

The Ethiopian seats have quite a strong color with all Business Class seats being strongly red, while Economy Class seats are green.

The massive seats in Business feel very comfortable and have a good padding despite their obvious age.

All seats come with an adjustable headrest and quite some recline, making it possible to sleep or doze nicely despite the lack of a fully flat seat.

Seats can be manually adjusted by pushing buttons in the armrest, but you also have to press a bit to make something happen.

You may also extend a legrest.

All seats in the Ethiopian Arilines regional Business Class come with two large armrests (one being part of the middle console), a large extendable table as well as a large seat pocket.

There’s some storage in the middle console, but you won’t find any plugs or USB chargers due to the age of the product.

The seat pitch is great though.

Ethiopian Airlines’ Boeing 737-700 operates on short-haul flights.

Interior design of the cabin certainly showed its age and with plenty of signs of wear to the seats.

Some of the fabric and armrests had stains on it.

On the plus side, there was a physical wall between the business and economy class cabin instead of a curtain.

Aside front the seats looking beat up, they were surprisingly comfortable, wide, and with plenty of legroom.

There was no entertainment system but on a short flight that really isn’t an issue.

The back row in the business class cabin does not appear to fully recline due to the wall directly behind the seat.

The Business Class is carried out in a 2-3-2 configuration.

The seats can be turned into a flat bed with a 180 degree lying surface.

It is controlled by soft touch buttons on the seat, a display or manual control is not available.

The storage options are limited, but there is enough space under the ottoman.

This is unfavorable for electrical devices such as laptops or tablets, because without a rubber pad, the devices slide back and forth when taking off, landing or during a bumpy flight.

Due to the wide ottoman, passengers benefit from great legroom.

The legs and feet can be moved freely at any time without bumping anywhere.

The fact that as soon as you are strapped in, you can hardly reach the screen or the storage compartment under or next to the ottoman.

The mentioned storage compartment under the ottoman offers space for shoes, bags, small backpacks as well as blankets and pillows.

Between the screens are small compartments in which the headphones are initially stowed and clothes hooks.

The clothes hooks are pretty useless as soon as you want to use the screen. It would also be ideal if the small compartments were lockable.

Between the two ottomans you will find compartments for the on-board magazine and the safety information.

A laptop can also be stored here.

The last available storage space on the seat is in the form of two slots on the front part of the armrest.

The controller, a socket and a USB port are attached directly next to the seat.

In addition, a bottle of water is available for you here and with the attached button a small partition can be raised to the neighboring seat.

Ethiopian Airlines Fleet Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner Cabin Interior Class Configuration and Seats Layout

Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner widebody aircraft operate on long-haul routes.

Ethiopian Airlines has configured their widebody with Cloud Nine Business Class and Economy Class.

Cloud Nine seats transform into fully-flat beds for comfort on overnight flights.

Entertainment onboard is provided via personal monitors in Cloud Nine and individual seat back monitors in Economy.

Ethiopian’s B787 Dreamliner features just one large Business Class cabin, located in the aircraft’s nose section.

There are 24 seats, spread over 4 rows, in a 2-2-2 configuration, with the seats on the side slightly angled towards the windows, away from the aisle.

All seats face forward and have aisle access, except for the window seats (where you have to climb over the legs of your neighbor to reach the aisle).

Paired seats are staggered by a couple of inches (cm), which – together with a small partition – adds some privacy in case you are seated next to a stranger (although the seats and cabin are very open) and at the same time allows enough interaction when you are traveling with a companion.

The seats are covered in a red fabric, which is the only bright color in an otherwise neutral cabin color palette.

This is the same Business Class layout which you find on other airlines, such as KLM’s B777, United Airlines’ B787s, and Qatar Airways’ A330s.

The first ten Dreamliner aircraft were delivered with an older Business Class product with angled lie flat seats (170 degrees recline), while the newer Dreamliners have all been delivered with fully flat beds (180 degrees recline).

The soft cushioned seat has a pitch of 78 inch (195 cm), which is defined as the space between one point on a seat and the same point on the seat in front of it.

The seat width is 22 inch (56 cm) – defined as the space between the arm rests – which is comfortable but not among the widest in the industry.

Each seat features its own 15,4 inch HD TV, which can be controlled by either a handset in the armrest or by directly touching the screen.

Below the TV monitor, you find a drawer which is large enough to store your laptop, and a footrest which becomes part of the flatbed once the seat is fully reclined.

The size of this footrest differs dramatically depending upon the row: the bulkhead seats in row 1 offer a much larger ottoman as compared to the cramp footrests of all the other Business Class seats (so make sure to choose a seat in the first row if you can).

The arm rest that is shared between paired seats features a small shared table (for drinks and snacks), the seat controls, and the remote control for the entertainment system.

It also houses a moderately sized fold-out tray table which needs to be pulled out for any use (after which you are kind of blocked in your seat).

On the other side of the seat, behind the headrest, is a small, somewhat difficult to reach storage compartment, where you find a universal AC power outlet and a USB port.

The seat goes fully flat (180 degrees recline), but again, your sleep comfort will depend on the seat you choose: except for the bulkhead seats in row 1 (which come with large ottomans), the footrests are too narrow for a good night’s rest.

The 246 Economy Class seats are arranged in a 3-3-3 abreast configuration.

Seats have a 32-inch seat pitch and an 17-18-inch width and on-demand Audio and Video services with 8.9 inch IFE screens and 80 channels in Economy Class, offering an array of entertainment to passengers of all age.
