United Airlines Fleet Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner Details and Pictures. On current fleet, United Airlines operates 9 wide-body aircraft Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner with 5 more on orders.
Previously, United Airlines already flies smaller variant of the Dreamliner family, its Boeing 787-8 and 787-9.
The United Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner version presented here represents the most technologically advanced commercial aircraft operating in 2018.
The wide-body aircraft is used on United’s transcontinental US flights and international flights from the US.
United remains the only U.S. airline with Boeing 787-10s in its fleet, and is one of only a handful of carriers worldwide to operate the aircraft.
The 787-10 offers the same next-generation fuel efficiency and jetlag-fighting features as the smaller 787-8s and 787-9s, including quieter engines, better cabin pressurization and humidity for passenger comfort, lighting systems that help travelers adjust their circadian rhythms to new time zones faster, and larger windows to let in more natural light than conventional jets.
The 787-10 is the largest of the Dreamliner family – 18 feet longer than the 787-9 and 38 feet longer than the 787-8.
That enables it to carry 66 more passengers than the former, and up to 99 more passengers than the latter.
Interestingly enough, because it is bigger and can carry larger loads, the jet’s range is actually more limited than that of the 787-8 and 787-9.
However, it can still fly up to 7,300 miles or so, which puts many international long-haul routes well within its operating distance.

Wide-body aircraft Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner (78J) United Airlines has 4 classes on board (Polaris, Premium Plus, Economy Plus, Economy) with total of 318 seats.
Use airplane seat map to find which ones are more comfortable and which ones should be avoided.
Seat Map and Seating Chart Boeing 787 10 Dreamliner United Airlines
The business-class section aboard United’s 787-10 consists of a single cabin with 44 seats.
The 11 rows are laid out in a 1 – 2 – 1 pattern so that each passenger has direct access to the aisle.
Each seat is 20.6 inches wide – slightly narrower than the Polaris seats aboard the airline’s 777-300ERs – and reclines to a fully flat bed up that is 78 inches long.
The seats on the sides of the plane are alternately closer to the window or to the aisle, with a wide armrest on one side and a narrow one on the other.
Those closer to the aisle have sizable privacy screens to limit intrusions.
Seats in the center section are alternately closer together or farther apart from one another depending on whether their narrow armrests are on the aisle side or in the middle.
Couples traveling together should appreciate the intimacy of the so-called “honeymoon” seats that are closer together and shielded from the aisle by their larger armrests.
Solo travelers should aim for the side seats, or the center ones that are separated from one another by the larger armrests.

United Airlines Fleet Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner Cabin Specification and Class Configuration
Polaris, Economy Plus and Economy seating is available on this Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
Polaris class on this aircraft features a standard Business Class seat which transforms into a fully flat bed. Polaris inflight service is offered.
On the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, an aircraft which will be amongst the last to receive “true Polaris”, business class is strikingly familiar.
United Airlines uses B/E Aerospace Diamond seats, which are also used by the likes of Qatar Airways on single aisle planes, American and Delta on transcontinental business class and Air China on many wide body jets.
The seats are configured in a 2x2x2 layout on the 787-9 and although they are not revolutionary by any means, they’re quite effective.
Business class features 48 seats in total spread over two cabins (with a galley and lavatories in between).
United still offers the best bedding in business class, with a mattress pad upon request, a plush pillow and cooling gel foam pillow, and a comfortable blanket.
The economy plus seats were arranged in a 3-3-3 configuration.
Economy Plus seats have 35″ of pitch, are 17.3″ wide and offer a 4-inch recline.
United’s 787-9s have two economy class cabins with all seats in a 3-3-3 configuration.
The front economy class cabin features Economy Plus, while the rear section is branded United Economy.
Unlike the Lufthansa A380, there are two power ports per row of three seats in addition to a USB charger on the setback monitor.
The seats do not (seem) to recline quite as much as other airlines, but the articulating seat pan slides up when you recline the seat.
A pillow and blanket were waiting at each seat.

Business First class consists of 48 flat bed seats that have 180 degrees recline.
These seats are located in 8 rows divided into 2 sections.

The seats 4A and 4L have no windows.
Close location of the galleys and lavatories will be bothersome for passengers of the seats of 5th row.
Second section of Business first class seats contains 3 rows of seats that have 2-2-2 configuration.
All the seats here are standard only seats of the 6th row have such a disadvantage as proximity of the galleys and lavatories.
Economy Plus class may transport 88 passengers.
Most of the seats are located in the first section that contains 9 rows that have 3-3-3 configuration.
Passengers with infants are often seated on the seats of 16th row.
These seats have extra legroom thanks to the bulkhead position.
However, these seats have no overhead storage space.
The only disadvantage of the seats of 24th row is close location of the galley and lavatories.
7 more seats of Economy Plus class are located in the second section together with economy class seats.
These are the seats 24BC, 27JK and 29DEF.
Passengers of these seats will take advantage of extra space for their legs but close location of the lavatories and galley may be bothersome.
There are 116 seats in the Economy Class.
The seats 27A and 27L have no windows but have extra legroom thanks to the exit row located in front.
However, protrusion of the exit door may cause some discomfort.
The seats 38A and 38L are missing windows.
The seats 40ABC, 40JKL and 41DEF are considered bad seats as they have limited overhead storage room and other passengers tend to congregate in this area while waiting to use lavatories.

United Airlines Fleet Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner Cabin Specification and Class Configuration
On this United Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, Polaris, Economy Plus and Economy seating is available.
Polaris class on this aircraft features a standard Business Class seat which transforms into a fully flat bed. Polaris inflight service is offered.
There was a forward cabin with three rows of seats in a 2-2-2 configuration, and a rear cabin with the same number of seats.
Each business seat has a small exposed storage compartment to the back left of the seat, featuring outlets (both 110v and USB), as well as the headphone jack.
While these business seats are fully flat, one downside to them is that they only have small footwells.
The reason for this is that your feet essentially go inbetween the seats in front. That’s how they’re able to fit more seats into a small area.
Any business class seat is an improvement over an economy class seat, and for shorter and smaller passengers the difference in footwell size might not be noticeable.
However, if space is important remember to look for bulkhead seats and seats with a footwell not constrained by the center console.

United Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner Seat map (36/70/113 configuration)
Seat Map and Seating Chart Boeing 787 8 Dreamliner United Airlines
Business first class includes 6 rows of seats that have 2-2-2 configuration.
These seats are divided into two sections. Per 3 rows in each.
The seats of Business First class represent flat bed seats that have 180 degrees recline.
Close location to the galleys may represent a problem for passengers of the seats 1B and 1K.
The seats 1DE and 2DE have less overhead storage space due to the fact that crew and safety equipment is usually stored here.
The only disadvantage of the seats of 3rd row is proximity of the galley and lavatory.
Behind exit row the second section of Business First class is located.
Close location to the galley may be bothersome for passengers of the seats of 4th row.
The seats in Economy Plus class are located per 9 in the row.
The best seats here are the seats of the 16th row and the seats 17DEF.
Passengers of these seats will take advantage of extra legroom thanks to the bulkhead position.
Among disadvantages of these seats: lack of floor storage during take-off and landing and reduced width of these seats as the tray tables are in the armrests making them immovable.
Economy class seats are divided into two section.
As the seats of the 25th row are located in the last row of the section, the seats 25ABC and 25JKL may be less reclining.
Other passengers tend to gather in this area in order to visit lavatories and causing discomfort to passengers of the seats 25ABC, 25D, 25F and 25JKL.
The seats 27A and 27L are considered bad seats for the following reasons: these seats have only a small porthole window and have restricted space for passengers legs due to the exit door protrusion.
As the tray tables are built-in the armrests, the width of these seats is reduced.
Close location of the lavatories and galley is another disadvantage.
Also these seats have no floor storage during take-off and landing.
The other seats of the 27th row, i.e. the seats 27BC, 27DEF and 27JK belong to Premium Plus class.
Other passengers tend to gather in this area in order to visit lavatories and causing discomfort to passengers of these seats.
There is no floor storage during take-off and landing and these seats are narrower than standard.
The seats 34A and 34L are missing windows.
Proximity of the lavatories and galley will represent a problem for passengers of the last rows of the airplane, namely 36ABC, 36JKL, 37D, 37F and 38DEF. The seats 36ABC and 36JKL may also have limited recline.

Seat Map and Seating Chart Boeing 777 300ER United Airlines
A recent addition to United’s fleet, the Boeing 777-300ER is United’s first aircraft featuring their Polaris product.
Polaris is a premium Business Class product.
United chose to outfit its widebody fleet with a custom-designed, exclusive-to-United, open suite style seat, rather than select an option already in the marketplace.
Designed in partnership with Acumen Design Associates and PriestmanGoode and manufactured by Zodiac Seats United Kingdom, each Polaris seat will offer direct access to the aisle, 180-degree flat-bed recline and up to 6 foot 6 inches of bed space.
The 777-300ER has 60 Polaris seats.
Economy Plus is offered on this aircraft type.
Economy Plus is not a separate class of service but is standard Economy with up to 5 inches of extra legroom.
These seats are located nearer to the front of the aircraft and passengers in this section will be served first.
Charges for these seats will depend on routing and may be purchased at the of booking or check-in. The 777-300ER has 102 Economy Plus seats.
Economy Class includes 204 standard Economy Class seats.
Polaris class contains 60 open suites with 180 degrees recline.
These seats are located in the first 18 rows of the airplane and are divided into two sections.
First section consists of 28 seats that are transformed into a flat bed.
The noise from the galleys and lavatory located in front may cause discomfort to passengers of the seats of the 1st row.
The only disadvantage of the seats of the 6th-8th rows is close location of the galleys.
Behind the exit row the second section of polaris class seats is located.
This section contains 8 rows of seats that have 1-2-1 configuration.
Passengers tend to congregate in the area of the seats of the 9th row while waiting to use lavatories thus causing discomfort to passengers of the seats of the 9th row.
Missing windows make the seats 16A and 16L bad seats.
Noise from more crowded economy plus section will cause inconvenience to passengers of the seats of the 18th row.
Economy plus class may accommodate 102 passengers on standard seats that have 4 inches recline.
These seats are also located in two sections.
First section consists of 4 rows of seats that have 3-4-3 configuration.
Passengers of the seats of the 19th row will take advantage of extra space for their legs.
These seats are considered good seats.
However, there is no floor storage for these seats during take-off and landing and the tray tables located in the armrests slightly reduce the width.
Location of the lavatories located behind is the main disadvantage of the seats of the 22nd row.
The second section of economy plus seats contains 52 seats that are located in 6 rows.
Thanks to the exit row located in front the seats of the 24th row offer extra legroom.
Among disadvantages of these seats: location of the galleys and lavatories in front, lack of floor storage during take-off and landing and reduced width because the armrests are immovable.
Because of missing windows the seats 24A and 24L are considered bad seats.
Economy class offers 204 standard seats that have 3 inches recline.
These seats are located in 2 sections.
First section contains 10 rows of seats.
All these seats are standard only the seats of the 37th row are less reclining than standard and are located close to the lavatories.
Second section of economy class seats is located behind the exit row.
The seats 39ABC, 39JKL and 40DEFGare the seats of economy plus class.
Passengers of these seats will feel comfortable thanks to additional space for their legs.
Protrusion of the exit doors may cause discomfort to passengers of the seats 39A and 39L but proximity of the lavatories and galleys to passengers of the seats 39BC and 39JK.
All the seats of the 39th row have no floor storage during take-off and landing and are a little narrower than standard because the tray tables are built-in the armrests.
As there are no seats behind the seats 49C and 49J are often bumped by other passengers and crew members passing by.
Location of the galley and lavatories behind the seats 51D and 51G may represent a problem for passengers of these seats.
Limited recline, limited space in overhead bins as well as proximity of the galley and lavatories make the seats 51AB, 51KL and 52DEFG bad seats.

United Airlines Fleet Boeing 777-200/ER Cabin Specification and Class Configuration
United Airlines operates 5 versions of Boeing 777-200/ER.
Note that United Airlines has a few interior configurations; legacy United layout, a 2-2-2 Continental layout (found on many international routes) and 1-2-1 Polaris, which is an outstanding seating product.
United’s retrofitted 777-200s sport a total of 242 economy seats, compared with 221 prior to their update.
Most of those additional seats come from a jump from a 3-3-3 arrangement, with up to 18.1-inch seat width, to 3-4-3 with a width of 17.25 inches.
That’s a noticeable decline, especially when it comes to shoulder space.
There are also far fewer Economy Plus seats — 80 on the new version, compared with a whopping 113 on the previous configuration.
Economy Plus seat pitch remains at a respectable 34 inches.
The retrofitted plane has 162 regular coach seats as well, with 31 inches of pitch.

All these seats are standard.
Business First class consists of 5 rows of seats that have 2-4-2 configuration and are divided into two sections. I.e. there are 40 flat bed seats that have 180 degrees recline.
Only the seats of the 10th row have such a disadvantage as noise from the economy plus class that is located behind this row.
Economy Plus class has 110 standard seats that are divided into two sections.
The first section contains the major part of the seats – 101 seats.
The seats 19DEG have the following disadvantages: restricted space for passengers’ legs, the tray tables are built-in the armrests making them immovable and reducing the width of these seats, another disadvantage is lack of floor storage during take-off and landing.
The seats 20AB and 20JK are the best seats as passengers of these seats will take advantage of extra space thanks to the fact that there are no seats in front.
However the width of these seats is reduced a little as the tray tables are in the armrests.
The seats 21C and 21H also have extra legroom thanks to the missing seats in front but other passengers and crew members tend to bump into these seats.
Also these seats are narrower than standard as the TV screens and tray tables are built-in the armrests making them immovable.
The seats 30C and 30H are standard but as there are no seats behind other passengers and crew members tend to bump into these seats.
The seats 30DEG have limited recline.
Other passengers tend to father in this area in order to visit lavatories and causing discomfort to passengers of the seats 30C, 30DEG, 30H and 31B, 31J.
The seats 31A and 31K have no windows.
The second section contains the remaining 9 Economy Plus seats.
Passengers of the seats of 33rd row will feel comfortable thanks to the exit row in front.
These seats have bassinet location.
Among disadvantages of these seats: proximity of the lavatories and reduced width of the seats.
The seats 34DEG are the last seats of the Economy Plus class.
These seats have restricted space for passengers’ legs due to the bulkhead position.
But there is no floor storage for these seats during take-off and landing, the width of these seats is slightly reduced as the tray tables are in the armrests making them immovable, close location of the galleys may also represent a problem.
Economy class may transport 108 passengers.
All the seats of economy class are standard.
Just the seats of the last rows have some disadvantages.
So, the seats 45ABC and 45HJK as well as the seats 46DEG may be less reclining than standard and their close location to the galley and lavatories may be bothersome.

Passengers of the seats 32ABC and 32JKL will feel comfortable here thanks to the extra legroom due to the exit row in front.
However, these seats are narrower than standard and have no floor storage during take-off and landing.
The seats 37DEF have restricted legroom and under seat storage because of entertainment equipment that is stored here.
The best seats in the economy class are the seats 41A and 41L as these seats have extra space for passengers’ legs because of the curvature of the airplane.
Due to the curvature of the airplane at the tail the width of the seats 42ABC and 42JKL is reduced.
The seats 43C and 43J are often bumped by other passengers and crew members passing by.
Proximity of the lavatories may cause discomfort to passengers of the seats 44AB, 44DF, 44KL and of the seats of the last 45th row.
The seats 44AB, 44KL and 45DEF are considered bad seats as these seats may be less reclining.
